Log Cabin Spin
I made this little tablerunner several (a couple??) years ago. I’ve always been intrigued by all the different designs that can be made by a simple Log Cabin block. All you have to do is turn the blocks this way and that way and be amazed at how many ways you can arrange them.
Then to add more interest, use two sizes of strips. Now you have the illusion of curves, and all you’ve sewn is straight pieces. Easy!
Same blocks (except the heart has half blocks in the four corners, the blue one has full blocks in the corners), same number of blocks, only arranged differently.
I wanted a longer runner to fit on a dresser. I added borders on each end of the blue runner, using whatever fabric I had left from the runner, which was left from my Starburst quilt.
There is still time to make up a heart Log Cabin quilt in time for Valentine’s Day.
