Fall
Here we are, almost the middle of October. It’s still warm, I’m still wearing sandals (my feet sweat just thinking about socks and shoes), windows are open. We’ve had no frost, let alone a killing frost. I love it! My flowers are still blooming, I need to bring more in today and redo the vases. The leaves are falling. But there are flowers that need a good frost before I can dig and put away the bulbs–the glads, dahlias, calla lily.
I still have tomatoes ripening, I picked a cucumber the other day, but I think it was the last. I still have my houseplants outside. I really need to repot and bring them in.
Mostly I’ve been either sewing or working on new patterns.
I finished the quilt with the Fall/Winter Island Batik fabrics. I had Linda quilt it, and it’s in my sewing room waiting patiently for its binding. I sewed the tablerunner in about 3 hours, and it’s on the design wall patiently waiting for quilting and binding.
Both of them are older patterns that I’m so glad to give new life to. Both patterns got a bit of updating, my style has evolved through the years. The quilt needed only a little tweaking, but the tablerunner–that needed a complete overhaul!!
That’s it for sewing this past week. But I have been playing in EQ.
There is going to be a new Minnesota shop hop next April and May. You can find out more about it on the website or on the facebook page. I’ve submitted several proposals for quilt patterns that will be included in the shop hop magazine. The deadline for that is today, and I submitted the last proposal yesterday afternoon. These are all new patterns, so I needed to not only do it in EQ, I had to make sure I could write the instructions for the designs. It’s so easy to play and come up with something spectacular, only to find out I can’t write instructions that someone else can follow. I will find out on Friday if any of my proposals are accepted.
Today also is the deadline to submit proposals to Connecting Threads for an upcoming catalog. For that, I’ll just be using an already existing pattern that I haven’t submitted to them before. I had time last night to audition a few, and today make the final decision.
Tomorrow is the deadline for Northcott submissions, and a week later more submissions for them.
So no sewing until maybe tomorrow afternoon…
