Tumbleweed

I’ve made several samples of this pattern for the Old Creamery.

The first was with the All Minnesota Shop Hop Fabric.

Tumbleweed is about 29″ square (depending on seam allowances and how much the quilting shrinks it). I had this all done and pictures taken for the cover when I noticed I had the green and blue words the wrong way on two of the blocks. I couldn’t leave it like that, I couldn’t rip them out since it was already quilted and bound. Michelle hadn’t noticed it when she was quilting it, either. I made two more HSTs, sewed them to the correct words fabric, and hand-stitched them on. I quilted those areas by going over the quilting stitches from the backing side of the quilt.

Next, I made a sample using Northcott’s Feathered Nest collection.

Each block has a square of fabric in it. When I wrote the pattern for AMNSH, I thought when using other lines of fabric that those squares would be all the same fabric. When we picked the fabrics for this one, we chose a different fabric for each of the three blocks. I needed to add some explanation for doing so with the patterns.

After that I made two more in Moda’s Stitched line.

These two don’t have the binding on them yet, but the kits are ready and I wanted to put a real quilt on the cover. My first project today when I get to work, will be binding these.

These also have different fabric for the squares in each block. I decided I needed to make each of those squares a different fabric in the pattern. It would be much less confusing to add two more fabrics to the fabric requirements than to have two or three choices for Fabric 6!

The pattern has now been changed and tested and is ready to go! Once I get the next sample done I will get the cover picture changed, showing all three center block choices.

Now it’s time to get ready to go to work.
