Goose Chase – Cotton Blossom
Last fall I submitted a design proposal to Timeless Treasures, and it was accepted. These are the fabrics I received.
The fabric is Cotton Blossom. There was a light blue fabric missing from the original shipment.
The design I submitted was for a 6″ mitered border. When I saw the border print, I was wishing I had used the entire width! But if I changed and used it all, there wouldn’t have been the length needed, or enough fabric for the backing. So I stuck with the submitted design.
I picked a line to follow and started cutting….
…flipped it around and cut it to the needed width..
Before sewing the borders to the pieced top, I made a mark at each corner, a quarter each from each side. This is the point at which I needed to start and stop stitching.
After attaching the border on all four sides (starting and stopping stitching a quarter inch from each end), I drew a 45° line from the mark to the outer edge of the border print.
I placed pins along lines in the print…
…flipped it over to make sure the pins were on the same line on that side.
Once it was lined up properly, I sewed on the line, checked to make sure it looked right when opened up…
After determining that it was lined up, I trimmed the seam allowance to a quarter inch, and pressed it open, and repressed the seam allowance to the borders.
This is the finished quilt.
The quilting pattern is Vickie’s Twist. I love that design! I used a high loft poly for the batting. I like poly for a lap quilt, it makes them so much more cuddly!
I don’t need another lap quilt, but I don’t think I can give this one away!
