A new angel

I had, now my daughter has, my mom’s wedding dress. It’s 83 years old. It has been stored in a little cedar chest that my dad made for her, which in turn was stored in a much bigger cedar chest. The picture above is the veil and the jacket that went over the dress.

I got the idea that since we are in a new house, I should make a new treetop angel. A month or so ago I saw a pattern on the sewitsforsale yahoo group. I liked the look and bought the pattern.

The idea of using my mom’s dress for it occurred to me. I asked Cari what she thought. She suggested using the jacket. I brought it home with me, and it’s been sitting here. I think it’s time to get started on it. I’ll need to get some buckram, but I think that’s all I need to get.
