Angel atop the tree
I started working on the angel on Friday. I didn’t get buckram, I bought some Peltex, the one-side fusible. Not that I intended to fuse it to anything, but it seemed a bit stiffer than the non-fusible. This is for the cone shape that the head/arms and dress go on. That’s about as far as I made it on Friday. Saturday was spent with other things, and I made it back to working on her yesterday.
I knew I couldn’t finish yesterday, so I stopped and took it up again this morning, and finished.
I took off the binding around the bottom edge of the jacket. I used some of it around the bottom of the peltex. I think the ripping apart took as long as the sewing and gluing together.
Her hair is the inside of the sleeve. The sleeve was fitted from the wrist to the elbow, then was puffy to the shoulder. Inside the puffy was netting to floof it out, and that’s what I used for her hair. I was going to have it long. The pattern suggested twisting it up into a bun, so I did that.
I used one strand of the white buds from the headpiece for her halo. Instead of a V-shaped bodice with a ruffle, I simply used the flower closure to cover the top of the dress. One of the white flower buds had fallen off of the wire, I hot glued it onto the flower to hide wire holding the petals together.
I hope my mom doesn’t mind me using her wedding dress this way.
