Floaters–a new pattern
I’ve been working on a new pattern. When I did Goose Chase with Timeless Treasure’s Cotton Blossom fabric,
I had leftovers. I designed it with a mitered border of about 6″??. When the fabric arrived I was sorry that I hadn’t planned for the entire width of the border print, but I couldn’t change, because I wouldn’t have enough length for the mitered border. So it was packed away with the rest of the leftover fabric.
Now comes Floaters. I went through the totes and found the leftover Cotton Blossom fabric.Unfortunately, the leftover border print wasn’t big enough for what I needed.
Ah…I could piece it, there was plenty.
Hmm…still not big enough. Oh! I could piece in another strip of fabric! Yes! That works!!
…but that’s ok–four blocks have the cotton blossoms going sideways.
Now I have it all sewed together. I had a light blue grunge wide backing (I don’t remember WHY I have it) and a navy grunge wide backing. I used both in the top. I thought I had enough of the navy for the backing. Turns out the backing is the exact same size as the top…so I have to piece it–both lengthwise and widthwise.
That’s where I am now. I have the lengthwise strip pieced in, but I need to clean house. Ick.
