Crisscross Stars

Crisscross Stars is a four block tablerunner. The star blocks form an “X” when they are placed next to each other.

The “X” is more obvious than the stars.

I decided to play around a little in EQ7 and came up with a square version.

(The EQ image looks more true-to-life than the photograph of the actual quilt…I don’t know what’s with my camera.)
To make the square topper
Sashing and cornerstones:
Measure the size of the blocks. Cut four strips of Fabric 3 to that measurement x the same width as the first border.
Cut one square of Fabric 4 the same size as the width of the sashing.
Sew a sashing strip between two blocks; repeat. Press to the sashing.
Sew the square between the two remaining sashing strips. Press to the sashing.
Sew the sashing-cornerstone unit between the two block-sashing units.
Continue on adding the borders in the same manner as for the tablerunner, measuring each step of the way, and cutting border strips to that measurement. You may need one more binding strip.
You should have plenty of fabric to do this version, just a little less left over when you’re done.

All fabric except the violet is from the Quilt MN Shop Hop 2015 line.
