How to perfectly match fabric designs

I took some pictures when I had to match fabric for a border, and thought I’d add them here, to make things a little clearer.

000 — Fold back the edge of the fabric.

001 — Match the design.

001b — Place on the ironing board and pin away from the folded edge.

002 — Lift the folded edge.

003 — Apply glue on the edge.

004 — Put the folded edge back in place.

005 — Press to set the glue.

007 — Stitch in the fold.

010 — Pull apart the seam allowance to release the glue in the seam allowance.

011 — Trim seam allowance to a quarter inch.

013 — Open seam and press.

015 — Press on the right side.

016 — Matched!

I especially like doing this on a large print. I have pictures of that and I’ll add them as I get time.
