How to perfectly match fabric designs

I took some pictures when I had to match fabric for a border, and thought I’d add them here, to make things a little clearer.

Fold back the edge of the fabric.

Match the design.

Place on the ironing board and pin away from the folded edge.

Lift the folded edge.

Apply glue on the edge.

Put the folded edge back in place.

Press to set the glue.

Stitch in the fold.

Pull apart the seam allowance to release the glue in the seam allowance.

Trim seam allowance to a quarter inch.

Open seam and press.

Press on the right side.

Matched!

I especially like doing this on a large print. I have pictures of that and I’ll add them as I get time.
