Sewing today
I’m not working at the quilt store now, due to the coronavirus. Customers aren’t coming in, which we had expected.
That doesn’t mean I’m just sitting here twiddling my thumbs! I had submitted designs to Northcott last month, and two of them were accepted.
One of them was Mountain View.
They asked for a variation on the border for the wallhanging size. I thought it would be a simple thing to just change the size. Was it? Of course not!!
I wanted to leave the smaller size there. I wanted to keep the larger size. I thought I could change the size of the borders on the larger one to coincide with the new size.
Nah. I didn’t like that, the original border sizes look so much better.
So I had to rethink it all. That was my project yesterday. Which then flowed into today, I needed to recheck the yardage requirements. I think I have it all figured out now. I’ll let it rest a few days, then look it over again. I’ll see if one of my testers can look it over again.
The other design accepted was Fly Away.
Once again, I thought it would be a simple alteration; but it has a panel wider than it is long, and that required a little more finesse than I had first anticipated. It will become a new pattern.
Now that the pattern is put away for the time being, I’m back to working on the t-shirt/tie quilt. It’s a jigsaw puzzle! I had set that aside last week, my brain was frazzled on it, I wasn’t sure what way to go. Time outs do help! (Not sure if it was me or the quilt that benefitted from the time out!!)
Now its time to get back to it!
Stay safe!
