Beams #3

Since the “waste triangles” from the second Beams quilt I sewed failed to give the results I wanted to emphasize, I decided to make another.  For this one I decided to use Christmas fabrics.  I searched through my stash.  I have all that lovely cardinal and poinsettia fabric with the gold accents.  Unfortunately, I was […]

Smaller Beams

On Friday I finished the smaller Beams quilt.  I have produced the perfect example of what not to choose for your fabric.  For the Corner Beams I chose two fabrics that coordinated, one a small busy print, the other a larger, more open print.  Unfortunately, they are so close that there isn’t much contract.  That […]

A smaller Beam

This is the beginning of another Beams tabletopper.

A finish – as yet unnamed

I’ve been working on patterns for two small quilts. Yesterday I finished quilting and binding one. Linda at the Old Creamery Quilt Shop told me I should teach a class using a Studio 180 ruler.  Since I love those rulers, I immediately agreed. I  looked through my EQ files and found several that could use […]

Yesterday’s progress

I managed to get some done on the quilt. It looks like alot, but when I marked off the completed and joined HSTs–it’s not a very large percentage together. I won’t get much done today and tomorrow since I work at the quilt shop.

A jigsaw puzzle…

Last Friday I started working on a graduation quilt.  It’s based on this free pattern https://ivoryspring.wordpress.com/2016/12/08/free-pattern-wind-chimes-using-windhams-soleil/ The customer wants it larger so I used EQ to get what I needed.  The blocks are larger and I’ve added rows and columns.  I thought it would be easy once I determined how many of each fabric combination […]

A tablerunner for Valentine’s Day…or not!

Introducing Log Cabin Spin. This is simply Log Cabin blocks, made with two widths for the logs. There are four different blocks with lights and darks. Color placement and block position brings out the hearts. If you’re not looking for hearts, change the color scheme, and twist and turn the blocks to get a totally […]

60th Wedding Anniversary wallhanging

This morning I finished an anniversary gift for a dear friend and her husband.   I wasn’t sure what the 60th anniversary was, so I did some research and found it is the Diamond Anniversary.  There are no colors or flowers associated with it.  There is a rose named “Diamond” which is lavender in color.  That’s […]

Quilts

Welcome to my quilting world!

I love sewing, especially, quilting.  I’ve always kept notes as I sew (I have the notebooks and marked up patterns to prove it!) I’ve been using the quilt design program Electric Quilt for 15 or so years. If I was using a purchased pattern for a quilt, and I didn’t like the method, I’d draw […]
