Hard at work, or, hardly working?

It feels like both. I’ve been working all week to get patterns uploaded to Payhip. It’s been an ordeal, but I think I’ve done it, correctly, I hope. Yesterday a package arrived from Northcott with fabric for several of the designs that have been in their Look Books. First is Santa’s Tree Farm, see it […]

Blooming Pinwheels

I’ve been working on a new pattern. It came about last winter when we able to download the Quilt Minnesota Shop Hop 2020 fabric jpgs. I putzed around in EQ7 to come up with the block for the Old Creamery. I decided to use that block for a quilt that we could kit up for […]

Another new quilter!

Sunday after church we picked up two granddaughters. I knew Elizabeth (9) wanted to make a tablerunner for their uncle’s upcoming wedding. I wasn’t sure what Anna (7) wanted to do. As it turned out, she wanted to make a quilt. Since the only thing she’s sewed before is a mini 10 Minute Tablerunner and […]

Coco Cabana is designed by Kathy Engle, and will be available in stores in November/December of this year. I designed this pattern several years ago, and used Studio 180 Designs Corner Beam® ruler. I’m not a […]

Spinning, or swirling, seam allowances

By: | Comments: No Comments

In many of my patterns I give the tip to swirl the seam allowances. I include a diagram of what it is. Deb Tucker of Studio 180 Designs has started a series of tips on Thursdays on Facebook. Today’s tip is a detailed explanation of spinning the seam allowances. She goes into much greater detail […]

The new “normal”

By: | Comments: No Comments

How do we even define “normal” anymore? I hope everyone reading this is safe and well in this scary time. In some ways, the days aren’t much different for me than before. I still spend most of my day in my sewing room. Only, I have two extra days here. My husband is also off […]

Sewing today

By: | Comments: No Comments

I’m not working at the quilt store now, due to the coronavirus. Customers aren’t coming in, which we had expected. That doesn’t mean I’m just sitting here twiddling my thumbs! I had submitted designs to Northcott last month, and two of them were accepted. One of them was Mountain View. They asked for a variation […]

How to perfectly match fabric designs

By: | Comments: No Comments

I took some pictures when I had to match fabric for a border, and thought I’d add them here, to make things a little clearer. I especially like doing this on a large print. I have pictures of that and I’ll add them as I get time.
